CONSERVATION EQUIPMENT
What is no-till planting?
No-till planting plants crops and overseeds pastures without
tilling of the soil. The equipment plants through the existing cover by
cutting a shallow slit with coulters and depositing the seed directly into the
cut to provide proper seed to soil contact for germination. The result is
protected water quality by keeping soil and residue on the field and saving fuel
due to using less trips across the field for planting.
Rolling Hills RC&D provides no-till drills and other equipment
for landowner rental as a service to local agricultural landowners. These
drills are located at various agribusinesses in our area as well as local farms.
We encourage our customers to support these local agribusinesses that provide
support for this program. Contact the custodian closest to you to schedule
the use of this equipment.
No-Till Drills Available
In order to use this equipment, you will need a 45 hp tractor
or greater with hydraulics. The drills plant 7' wide and have a hauling

of the equipment. You will be required to pick up the equipment (pulls

Native Warm Season Grass Planter
This planter is available for the purpose of establishing native grasses for
wildlife enhancement. Historically, all forage production and landscape cover
has been accomplished through the use of introduced grasses and legumes.
In recent years, the interest in native grasses has been increased. This
planter can plant native grasses that typically will not work through
traditional no-till drills.
Fee: $9/acre (minimum $100/day) with a $25 set up
